HISTORICAL PICTURES

The Village was founded in 1815 by settlers from the state of Maine.  During its infancy, the Village was called Yankeetown.   Around 1821, the name Maineville began to be used by the local Baptist Church to identify the growing village and to pay tribute to the original settlers  In early 1850, a survey was completed and accepted by Silas Dudley and Seth G. Tufts that created the current boundaries.  On March 23, 1850, an act to incorporate the Village was drawn up and passed by the General Assembly.  This made Maineville the only incorporated Village within Hamilton Township until the late 1990's when the Village of South Lebanon and the City of Loveland annexed property on the north and south ends of the township respectfully..

MAINEVILLE BECOMES AN INCORPORATED VILLAGE - 1850

On March 23, 1850, an act to incorporate the town of Maineville in  Warren County was drawn up.  The act consisted of six sections and was passed by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio and was signed by Benjamin F. Leiter, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Charles G. Convers, Speaker of the Senate.  By this act, Maineville became the first and only incorporated town in Hamilton Township. The first election of officers was held April 2, 1850 from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. with Joseph Dennet and Joseph Whitney acting as judges.  The following officers were elected:
